Taipei mayoral rivals express willingness to debate
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – KMT incumbent Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) and his DPP challenger, Legislator Puma Shen (沈伯洋), expressed a willingness Saturday to debate each other.
Registrations for the Nov. 28 local elections closed Friday, with Chiang and Shen as the two major candidates out of six contenders. The KMT incumbent said he had indicated his agreement to a debate, per UDN.
During a visit to the Nanmen Market in Taipei Saturday, Shen said the traditional presentation of views by the candidates separately without interaction was only a minimum. What the public expected, was a real debate, with the candidates asking each other questions and follow-up questions, and with citizens also allowed to ask questions, he added.
Formosa Television was reportedly inviting both Chiang and Shen to take part in a live televised debate. Responding to the report, the mayor said that during the previous election, in 2022, Taipei was the only of the six special municipalities to organize a debate between the main contenders.

據報導，民視電視臺正在邀請蔣萬安與沈伯洋兩人參加電視直播辯論。針對這則報導，市長回應在上一屆2022年選舉中，臺北是六個直轄市中唯一有主要候選人舉辦辯論的城市。
